AG Pruitt Charges Tulsa Resident with Workers’ Compensation Fraud

OKLAHOMA CITY –- Attorney General Scott Pruitt’s Workers’ Compensation and Insurance Fraud Unit has filed a charge against a Tulsa woman for allegedly filing a false insurance claim.

Carolin Reinschmiedt (aka Carolyn Reinschmiedt), 44, a health services provider, was arrested on Dec. 7 on separate charges during a traffic stop in Tulsa County.

According to the charge filed by the AG’s Office in Tulsa County District Court, Reinschmiedt, submitted a claim alleging she was injured in June 2010, while working for Woodland View Car and Rehabilitation Center in Tulsa. She purportedly injured her left shoulder, back and neck while carrying a combative resident.

Reinschmiedt made statements to numerous health care providers that her alleged pain was "incomprehensible." She also stated she was unable to do any activities and treatment provided no relief; however, all medical tests came back normal.

While reviewing surveillance video, investigators observed Reinschmiedt shopping, getting in and out of car as well as lifting and carrying objects with no visible signs of discomfort.

She received temporary total disability payments from June 2010 through January 2011. The state believes Reinschmiedt obtained in excess of $9,995 in disability benefits to which she was not entitled.

“Every case of fraud causes costs to rise and reduces efficiency within Oklahoma’s workers’ compensation system,” Pruitt said. “We must continue to be diligent in investigating and prosecuting those workers who attempt to take advantage of the system.”

The Attorney General’s Workers’ Compensation and Insurance Fraud Unit is the only Oklahoma law enforcement agency dedicated to the investigation and prosecution of workers’ compensation fraud. The Unit also helps raise public awareness of fraud in Oklahoma.
